What I like about MacNeal: As an intern, I like the support from faculty and seniors helping us adapt in this new environment. The academics at MacNeal are impressive; compulsory reading logs, study modules, resident reports, teaching rounds, board reviews etc. to enhance our medical knowledge is awesome.

Interests outside Medicine: I am from the beautiful small Himalayan country Nepal. I like traveling and seeing new places. I like photography. I am always interested in sports and will never say no to a round of table tennis or a basketball match. One interesting fact about me is I survived a 7.8 Richter scale earthquake in Kathmandu on April 25th, 2015.

What I like about MacNeal: I enjoy the family-like feel of the program, how everyone knows everyone and has each other’s back. The ancillary staff is great here.

Interests outside Medicine: I love reading fiction, playing card and board games, traveling, cooking, trying out new adventurous things, and binge watching TV shows and movies. Chicago is one of my favorite cities, not as crowded as NYC but just as much, if not more fun, diverse and happening. I love relaxing on the beach by the lake, shopping, eating out and the number of things city has going on at all times.

What I like about MacNeal: Patient diversity is the major strength of the program which provides a wide breadth of experience in varied pathology of diseases. Moreover, I feel proud to work in a very friendly environment with great colleagues and co-operative attendings.

Interests outside Medicine: I like to hang out with friends, play indoor games like bowling, and explore the wonders of Chicago. Cooking has been a recent interest, particularly Asian cuisine.

Career Goals: Currently I am planning on working as a hospitalist. I am also considering pursuing a fellowship in the future.

What I like about MacNeal: The nurses are amazing, and are an integral part of our hospital. They make our lives easy! Additionally, the patient population is very diverse and comes in with a variety of pathologies. Throughout my experience, the physicians here are truly genuine and very easy to approach.

Interests outside Medicine: After completing my undergraduate degree, I went to India for a 2-year comparative philosophy and religion course in Mumbai, India. On my days off, I enjoy watching movies, playing cricket, hanging out with friends, and spending time with family. I also enjoy skydiving and white water rafting. In the near future, I hope to go skydiving again - hopefully with my new colleagues!

What I like about MacNeal: I enjoy the diverse patient population and cooperative coworkers. Many of the patients we care for are medically complicated, and sometimes come from an economically disadvantaged background. Caring for such a patient population, and making a positive difference in their lives, is a gratifying experience.

Interests outside Medicine: I enjoy stories in any form, be it movies, dramas, novels or video games. I read a lot of high fantasy novels. A Song of Ice and Fire, Wheel of Time, Dresden Files, Harry Potter, and Sword of Truth are some of the series I have enjoyed. I also enjoy online gaming. I like to keep up with scientific developments, especially in the fields of computer sciences and physics. I am also an avid ping pong player and enjoy running.

But the greatest reason that I love MacNeal is because it’s a small but big enough program where everyone knows each other and lives like a family in this beautiful windy city of Chicago.

Interests outside Medicine: I love shopping and traveling. I love to shop, love trying new cupcakes, going on family outings with my baby, and dining at new restaurants in Chicago.

Interests outside Medicine: I enjoy traveling, art, parks, a capella, brunch, quaint coffee shops and large bookstores.

What I like about MacNeal: The style of learning at MacNeal really appeals to and works for me. The faculty offer practical ways of diagnosing and managing diseases. Every single weekday, there are learning opportunities in the forms of lunch lectures and afternoon case reports and board reviews. Intern and resident feedback are also taken seriously; in fact, one of my cointerns and I are representatives on the Graduate Medical Education Committee. Our upper level residents who are our seniors on the general medicine floors and the ICU and our chief residents are great resources regarding both management of patients and applications for fellowship and job positions for the future.

Interests outside Medicine: I enjoy listening to music, salsa partner dancing, and watching Turkish TV series.

Career Goals: To pursue a fellowship beyond completion of residency.

What I like about MacNeal: I did a large portion of my medical school rotations at MacNeal. I was pleased with a lot of aspects of MacNeal. First and most importantly, I enjoy the warm and welcoming medical education staff, the efficiency of the residency team workflow and how it always feels like a true team environment, and the hospital's important and helpful ancillary staff. It was a no-brainer for me to apply for residency here, and I am happy to be back in the place I started my third year of medical school!

Interests outside Medicine: I love living in Chicago (the greatest city in America), I enjoy being a tourist in my own city. Food! Beer! Street fests! Oh my! There are always new and fun adventures to explore, as well as the old favorites. I enjoy long road trips, traveling abroad, hiking and amateur scenic photography.
